Neena Singh

Born in Bijnor in 1962, U.P, Neena Singh did her Masters and M. Phil in Sociology. She is a recipient of UGC’s Senior Research Fellowship, and pursued research in her chosen field of linguistic identity & Indian Nationalism at J.N.U., New Delhi & was awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. She is a civil servant; however, her main passion lies in Art. Neena Singh has held eleven solo exhibitions to her credit. She has also participated in many prestigious group shows and exhibitions like Harmony Art Show, Mumbai, Flight of Equality at Arpana Caur Art Gallery, Delhi, Celebration through Art: 150 years of Income Tax in India, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, Group Exhibition, Institute of Comtemporary Indian Art (ICIA), Mumbai etc. She was selected to participate in National Painting Camp 2013 of Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi and RPG Art Camp 2012, Marve, Mumbai. She was invited to participate in The Art Fusion Show 2011, 2012 and 2013 organized by Nehru Centre, Mumbai. Her paintings were selected for 53rd and 54th National Exhibitions of Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi. She was also invited to participate in ‘Chatak 2010’ Show organized by Nehru Centre, Mumbai. Her solo exhibition ‘Celestial Notations’ held at Lalit Kala Akademi was featured on INDIAN ART SHOW by press T.V. Iran. Smart Art Company, an Art Gallery in Germany displays her paintings due to their immense rejuvenating potential and ethereal aesthetics. Her artwork ‘Living on the edge – A face of urban poverty’ was announced as the winner of the International Juried Art Competition, 2013, ‘Depicting Contemporary life and the urban experience’ by the Art Quench Gallery. The gallery featured her in Art Quench Magazine and also in On Purpose Magazine. Her Painting PEACE won her an award at International Exhibition & Competition held by Ukrainian Art Week in April 2010. She was selected as a SILVER Award Winner for the GZ-Art Basel Art Fair 2012 in Basel, Switzerland, by Curators with Galeria Zero. Her painting ‘Confluence’ was selected for the 18th biannual exhibition of the American Juried Art Salon. Another painting of hers ‘Interior of false prophecies’ was selected for the 19th biannual exhibition of the American Juried Art Salon wherein International jury awarded highest score to her artwork. As the highest scoring artist, her paintings were shown for full one year on the online gallery. Her paintings have been successfully auctioned by The Arts Trust – Institute of Contemporary Indian Art. She has won critical acclaim, Honourable mentions and Special Recognitions at many National and International Juried Art Competitions. Artist Centre Mumbai honoured her with a MERIT PRIZE for her painting in the 13th Members Annual Art – Exhibition 2012. Her paintings find place in the collections of The Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, and Delhi College of Art and in many private and corporate collections in India and abroad.
