Ready to Rock a Destination Wedding

Destination weddings are in vogue, with beach-themed weddings topping the trend chart. If you’re planning to attend a stylish one, then you need an equally stylish outfit to do justice to the occasion.
Whether you’re the bride or a guest, picking the perfect outfit for a wedding is hard enough. But a dress for an Indian beach-nuptial party is an even trickier task. Contemplating a traditional outfit for this occasion? I must warn you that a sari or lehenga on a sandy beach may turn in to a bit of a mess. This is why most women prefer wearing a short or ankle-length dress for such weddings.
Luckily for you, I have found a solution to one of life’s biggest challenges! Listen up girls; I am talking about the dress that is a part of designer KiranUttamGhosh’s latest collection ‘Silver’. At first glance this dress appears to be a sari draped in a novel, modern way. But a closer look reveals that it’s a unique and classy fusion of a sari drape and a kaftan (an ankle-length, loose cloak-like dress with long sleeves).

The sari-kaftan (as I like to call it) is a one-sleeved dress, with subtle (but not too subtle!) embroidery along its border. In creating her ensemble, the designer was deeply inspired by the colour and texture of silver. My chosen piece sports a tarnished and rustic hue of silver which almost looks like bronze. It is a very subtle and earthy shade, with just the right sparkle and glitter, which makes it perfect for both day and night events.
This dress is a perfect pick for a girl who believes to stick to her traditional roots but would not give up on an opportunity to experiment with other styles. It’s a classic minimalistic dress, imbibing the less is more ideology, that’s perfect for a contemporary beach-themed wedding.
